THE 1985 BISHOP SHANAHAN BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM: State Champions
Special Recognition 2017
The 1985 Bishop Shanahan Boys Basketball Team began their season by beating Downingtown 69-43. They won their next two games before playing a good Malvern Prep team and lost 51-47. They bounced back in the next game and beat Chichester 60-55. Then they ran into a really good Lancaster Catholic team and lost 54-48.

JOHN ALLEN: Basketball
Class of 2017
John Allen is the all-time leading scorer in the storied history of Coatesville High School basketball, with 2,372 points. His senior year, Allen averaged 26 points per game and led Coatesville to the Pennsylvania State AAAA title. He capped his outstanding high school career by receiving numerous honors.

REBECCA DESMOND: Tennis
Class of 2017
Rebecca “Becky” Desmond, retired teacher and coach in the Downingtown School District. Becky graduated from Kutztown State College in 1961. After moving to Downingtown, her love for tennis and her desire to help others learn to play, led her to apply for a coaching position.

SCOTT GRAHAM: Baseball
Class of 2017
Scott Graham was a lifelong resident of West Chester, where he and CCSHOF member Jon Matlack were battery mates at West Chester High School. Though successful as a player in high school and college, an injury while playing in the West Chester Adult Baseball League in 1973 led Scott to ask Commissioner Frank Farley if he could finish out the season as an umpire.

ARLEN HARRIS: Football
Class of 2017
Arlen attended Downingtown from 1994-1998 and led his school to three Ches-Mont league championships and participation in two PIAA football championships, winning the final in 1996. During the championships he broke Tony Dorsett's scoring and rushing record as a junior..

JOE IEZZI: Athletic Trainer
Class of 2017
Joe Iezzi has been a certified athletic trainer for 45 years. He earned his undergraduate degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and his Master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania. He has worked in almost every setting of the profession.

DR. JOHN J. JOE: Football
Class of 2017
Dr. John J. Joe, a graduate of Scott High School in Coatesville, PA excelled in high school athletics and then at Lycoming College on a football scholarship. John is a member of the Coatesville "Football Joe Family". While at Scott he was captain of the football team earning all Ches-Mont league as a two way tackle. In 1954.

CYRUS JONES: Track
Class of 2017
Cyrus Jones was the head track coach for Lincoln University from 1994 to 2010 and Professor of Health Science for 42 years. Professor Jones is a graduate of Florida A&M University in Physical Education and Tuskegee Institute in Corrective Therapy. He received his MS degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.

ROBERT “BOB” WILLIAMS REESE: Athletic Director
Class of 2017
After serving a tour in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946, he attended East Stroudsburg State College where he was a varsity quarterback, a varsity swimmer and a basketball player. He graduated in 1948. In 1950 he received a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

JAMES "SCOOGY" SMITH: Athletic Director
Class of 2017
James "Scoogy” Smith, resident of Coatesville, graduated from Coatesville High School in 1964. He attended Maryland State College, now the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He earned a B.S. Degree in health and physical education and recreation.

RALPH TAMM: Football
Class of 2017
Ralph began his athletic career at Bensalem High School, in Bensalem, PA. After graduation he was drafted by the NFL New York Jets in the 9th round (high school players could be drafted back then) but decided to go to college instead.

CHARLES ANDREW TOTH JR.: Basketball
Class of 2017
Andy was a 6'3 basketball player who led West Chester High School (now B. Reed Henderson H.S.) to the Ches-Mont league championship in 1965 and 1966. On December 23, 1965, Andy scored 51 points (there was no 3 pt scoring then) against Downingtown. This is a Ches-Mont game record that has stood for 51 years.
