John Allen is the all-time leading scorer in the storied history of Coatesville High School basketball, with 2,372 points. His senior year, Allen averaged 26 points per game and led Coatesville to the Pennsylvania State AAAA title. He capped his outstanding high school career by receiving numerous honors. In 2001, he was named 2nd team All-American by Parade Magazine, as well as receiving McDonald’s All-American honorable mention honors. He was also selected that year All-USA third team by USA Today. Allen was named to the Pennsylvania All-State team in both 2000 and 2001.
John continued his basketball career at Seton Hall University (2001- 2005), where he was a four -year starter. In 2002, he was chosen for the All Big East Conference Rookie Team. He finished his career at Seton Hall 15th all-time in scoring with 1,466 points, while averaging 12.3 points per game. He is also 4th in school history in minutes played (3821) and 6th all-time in career starts (111).
Allen then played professionally in Europe for seven years, culminating with being named 2012 defensive player of the year in Poland. John Allen was inducted into the Coatesville Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. He is currently the assistant athletic director at Phoenxville Area High School.
