Class of 2013

Dick coached Great Valley High School basketball from 1971-1976 where he was named the Ches-Mont Coach of the Year in 1973-74. He was Head Soccer Coach from 1970-1975 and chosen Southern Chester County League Coach of the Year in 1975. He then went to Philadelphia Textile and was Assistant Coach for Herb Magee. Class of 2013

Ed Holcroft is an athlete, teacher, and coach who was active in Chester County. He later lived in Philadelphia and graduated from West Philadelphia High School where he excelled in soccer, basketball, and baseball. BARBARA KARAS: Tennis/Swimming Coach
Class of 2013

Barbara Leighton Karas was a multi-talented athlete who graduated from West Chester High School in 1961. In high school, Barbara was a member of the swimming team, ran track, played field hockey, and was the #1 tennis singles player. John “Doc” Kennedy has been active in the baseball scene in Phoenixville for nearly his entire life. Teaching for all but three years of his 32-year teaching career in Phoenixville, Doc was the Head Baseball Coach at Phoenixville Area High School for 20 years, with his tenure beginning in 1979. Class of 2013

While at WCSTC, Malikowski earned an incredible total of 12 Varsity Letters. In four years on the basketball team, Ed was selected Small College Player of the Year as a sophomore, and as a junior was the second leading scorer on a team that went 17-2.

Jim Pribula matriculated at West Chester High School, and earned Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees from West Chester State Teacher’s College. Pribula also received his PhD from the University of Maryland. As a high school athlete, Jim played both football and baseball. In football, he was named 1st Team All Ches-Mont in 1956 and 1957. Sam Riccardo Sr. is without a doubt the greatest softball pitcher in the former West Chester Adult Softball League. Sam started playing in the old Community Softball League in 1944 for West End A.C. team. He continued playing in the league until its demise. He was known as a “strikeout” pitcher. Leo Scoda is the longtime Boys Tennis Coach at Phoenixville Area High School. At the end of the 2013 high school tennis season, Scoda possessed a 630-99 record (86% winning percentage) in a career that has spanned 50 years (1964-2013).
