Riley Angstadt

Riley Angstadt

Basketball / Soccer / Track & Field

Riley excelled in the classroom by taking AP courses and earning a 4.68 cumulative GPA. She is a two-year member of the National Honor Society, a National Merit Scholarship Program Commended student, and an AP Scholar with Honor Award.

Angstadt is a rare three-sport athlete. She excelled on the basketball court where she was a four-year varsity player, three-year starter, and was captain her junior and senior seasons. Riley was named first team all-Ches-Mont point-guard her Junior and Senior years and was honorable mention as a sophomore. She was named first-team All-Area as a senior. Riley won three varsity letters in soccer and earned 2nd-team all-Ches-Mont honors as a senior. Angstadt was also a member of the varsity track & field team where she competed in the 4x400, high jump and triple jump and was named team Captain as a senior.

In addition to her academic and athletic achievements, Riley was involved in extra-curricular activities in her school and the community. Principal-nominated, she was a representative on the UCFSD curriculum council and advocated a student perspective among school board members & district administrators. She was a three-year member of the Principal’s Advisory Council & Student Council where she worked to improve student life, involvement, and associated events. Additionally, Riley is a UThon committee member and successfully planned fundraising events that raised over $1000 for pediatric cancer research. Angstadt is a four-year member of Unionville’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes and took a leadership role her junior and senior years. She was active in community related Young Life events.

Riley will attend the University of Virginia in the Fall to study engineering and play club basketball and intramural soccer.





Tucker Opdahl

Tucker Opdahl

Football / Track & Field

Tucker earned a 4.54 GPA and is a two-year member of the National Honor Society and the German Honor Society for two years. In addition, he is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

Tucker excelled inn sports at Unionville High School. He played football for four years and earned All-Ches-Mont Honors as a sophomore and was named 2nd Team All-Area and 1st Team All-Ches-Mont Safety as a junior. Although injured as a senior he played only three games and earned All-Ches-Mont Honorable Mention. He participated in Indoor and Outdoor track & field competing in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m, and Triple Jump and was team Captain as a senior.

He displayed leadership qualities as a 2-year Representative on the Student Council and SHOC mentor. His extracurricular activities include serving his country as a Petty Officer 3rd Class in the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. During his 5 years as a cadet, his experience confirmed his long-term goal to be an aviator in the military. As a squad leader, he mentored and trained his cadets to help them lead the later generations of cadets.

Giving back to his community is a significant part of Tucker’s life. During the pandemic, he co-founded the Caring Cards Initiative by encouraging the district’s elementary school students to create cards with warm messages for local seniors who were isolated by the pandemic. Caring Cards helped seniors to feel seen and loved. He also co-founded NTQ services to perform manual in-service for his community.

Tucker has accepted an appointment to the United States Naval Academy where he will play Sprint Football and study to become an aviator.
