Dr. John H. Hewlett, III was born in 1937 and had a distinguished career as educator, Track and Field Coach at West Chester’s B. Reed Henderson High School (1967-1975) and founder, sponsor and coach of the West Chester Area Track and Field Club (1967-2005).

Charles B. Lewis: Track & Field
Historical Class of 2023
Charles B. Lewis was raised in Avondale (PA) where he was a standout athlete at Avon Grove High School in baseball, basketball, soccer and especially track & field. During his sophomore year (1954), Charlie won the PIAA 440-yard run and finished to his brother, Joe, in the 100-yard dash.

George Meklos: Coach
Historical Class of 2023
Born in Phoenixville in 1913 and became a lifelong resident. He was a three-sport athlete at Phoenixville Area High School and was a three-letter winner in football, basketball, and baseball. He captained the football team as a senior and was selected first-team center by five regional newspapers.
