Chester County Sports Hall of Fame is extremely pleased to announce the creation of an annual award that recognizes an exceptional Chester County high school female and male scholar-athlete.
An outstanding athlete at West Chester High School, and West Chester University, Richard Yoder was a successful college professor and administrator. A Marine Corps veteran, and a life-long resident of Chester County, he was an active communitarian as mayor of West Chester and through his service in numerous county activities. The award honors his lifetime achievements as an athlete, academic and leader.
All Chester County secondary schools will be invited to nominate a graduating female and male scholar-athlete who exemplifies the qualifications and the spirit of the Yoder Award. Nominations will be reviewed by CCSHOF and one female and male nominee will be chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship for the post-secondary school of their choice. Award recipients will be listed on the CCSHOF website.
