Please join the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame to honor Morgan Weaver (Owen J. Roberts High School) and Dylan Grim (Henderson High School) as recipients of the 2022 Richard B. Yoder High School Scholar-Athlete Award. Named in memory of CCSHOF charter member and inductee Richard B. Yoder, the Yoder Award recognizes a female and male graduating high-school student who is an accomplished athlete, scholar and leader, qualities that defined Dick Yoder’s life. This year’s speaker is pioneering sports administrator, Eve Atkinson.
Dr. Eve Atkinson served for 45 years as a coach, professor, and athletic administrator at several universities including Yale University, Temple University, and West Chester. As the Director of Athletics at Lafayette she became the first woman to serve as a Division I Director of Athletics for men’s and women’s programs, and later served as the first woman president of a collegiate football organization. She finished her career as Professor and Graduate Coordinator of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) with Graduate Certificate in Sport Management and Athletics at West Chester University and was awarded Emerita status upon retirement.
A graduate of WCU she was a 12-time All-American in Swimming and a member of the 1972 National Swimming and Diving Championship team that defeated defending champion Arizona State. She also competed for many years on WCU’s Field hockey and Lacrosse teams. Atkinson earned a Doctor of Education from Temple University.
The Yoder event is limited to 120 guests who will enjoy an opportunity to meet Eve Atkinson and the award winners, support the Yoder Award, and enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and beverages. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Richard B. Yoder Scholar-Athlete Award and are tax deductible.
