2023 Inductees



Vince Belnome - Baseball

Vince Belnome is nominated for induction for his outstanding achievements as a baseball player. He was a three-time Most Valuable Player at Coatesville High School hitting a remarkable .557 in his senior season and setting a school career batting average record of .490. He is Coatesville’s career leader in runs scored (96) and doubles (30).

His play at Coatesville earned Vince a baseball scholarship to West Virginia University where he continued to excel. He set a single season school record his junior year with 84 RBI, while hitting for a .418 batting average. He finished the season 3rd nationally with 1.53 RBI per game, 6th in total RBI and 13 th with a .519 on base percentage. For his accomplishments, Vince was named an All-American by College Baseball Insider.

Vince was drafted in the June 2009 amateur draft by the San Diego Padres. In his first season of professional baseball, he was named to both the Northwest and Midwest Minor League All-Star teams. By 2012 Vince had risen to the Triple-A level starting for the Padres’ Tucson affiliate. In December 2012, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 2013, Vince played for Tampa Bay’s Durham Triple-A club in the International League. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player by hitting .300, and finishing second in the league in both on-base percentage (.408) and runs scored (77). Vince started in the International League All-Star game.

In 2014, Vince made a brief appearance with Tampa Bay in Major Leagues. A highlight was his base hit off Cy Young award winner and future Hall of Fame pitcher, Max Scherzer.

Since leaving professional baseball Vince resides in Coatesville with his wife Abby and their two sons, Bowen and Briggs.



Rick Daniels - Football

Rick Daniels left his mark on West Chester University athletics as a Football Coach. He led West Chester through one of the more productive periods in its football rich history. During Rick’s tenure as Head Coach, West Chester University won four Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Football Championships and participated in three NCAA Football Playoff Tournaments.

Rick was born in Abington, PA and graduated from Springfield High School where he played football all four years. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy and in 1973 transferred to West Chester State College from Montgomery County Community College. He started coaching at West Chester as a student assistant and after graduating in 1975, stayed on as a Volunteer Assistant as he began began working his way up to a paid assistant, full time assistant, and then Head Coach in 1989.

In addition to his teams’ success during his thirteen years as a head coach, Rick’s teams had 86 wins. He coached three AFCA 1st Team All-Americans (Kevin Ingram, Ralph Tamm, and Lee Woodall), was named PSAC East Coach of the Year four times and was the Kodak Region I Coach of the Year (1992).

After leaving West Chester, Rick continued coaching in Chester County with stints at Pottstown High School, and Downingtown East High School where he is the Assistant Head Coach. In 2003, Rick received the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Gold Medal. He was inducted into the Killinger Foundation Hall of Fame in 2012.



Michele Doyle - Lacrosse

Michele is nominated for her outstanding contribution to women’s athletics as a player, coach, and administrator.

She is a graduate of Unionville HS where she played lacrosse and co-captained the cheerleading squad. She matriculated at West Chester University where she was an outstanding defender. The 1979 WCU Lacrosse team won both the College Conference and the Collegiate National Championship (now the NCAA). For outstanding play and sportsmanship, she received the coveted Beth Allen Award.

From 1981-1986, Michele was a member of USA National & International Lacrosse teams, which won the World Cup in 1982..

While at Penncrest High School Michele has coached Field Hockey, Basketball and Lacrosse, taught physical education for 32 years, and became the first female AD of the Central League.

Michele was a co-founder of a summer lacrosse league which grew to four sites and over 20 teams in Chester and Delaware Counties. She served 18 years as the PIAA D1 Lacrosse rep and organized the first girl’s lacrosse tournament for the Keystone games. As part of the Unionville Recreation Association, Michele coordinated a lacrosse program for elementary & middle school girls.

In addition to serving on the USWLA Executive Board representing schoolgirls, Michele was on the U-19 World Cup Championship Committee. As a representative of USA lacrosse she has traveled across the United States and as far as Japan and the Czech Republic to teach the fundamentals of the game.

Michele was inducted into the US Lacrosse/Eastern PA Hall of Fame, the USA Lacrosse National Hall of Fame, and the Delaware County Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame.



Lee Krug - Lacrosse & Soccer Coach

Lee Krug is nominated for his outstanding 40+ year career coaching Girls Lacrosse for Unionville High School. He created the program in the mid-1970s and was Varsity coach for 33 years during which time his teams won 13 league championships, were involved in post-season play, and had only one losing season. His teams won the District I title in 1991 & 1992 before the PIAA offered a state level tournament for Girls Lacrosse. His career record at Unionville was 474-115-15. He was also the head coach at Octorara High School (2010), served as Assistant Coach at Downingtown East (2011-2017), and has served as head coach at Avon Grove High School since 2018. He was elected to the Ches-Mont League Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the United States Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

He also served as Boys Soccer coach at Unionville for 27 years during which time his teams won 6 SCCL league titles and qualified for post-season competition 16 times.

Lee taught chemistry at Unionville and was twice named Teacher of the Year. He lives in Coatesville where he spends his spare time flying his airplane.



David Lapp - Track & Field

David G. Lapp was an accomplished member of the cross-country, indoor and outdoor track team at Coatesville High School. He won the 1974 Outdoor State Championship in the 880-yard run, as well as the 1974 Penn Relays Championship of America in the Mile Relay. He received the 1974 CASH Scholar-Athlete Award upon graduation.

David took his talents to the University of Tennessee where he became an All-American in the indoor 2-Mile Relay. He also anchored his team to an American Record and ran a 3:57 split on the Penn Relays Championship of America 4xMile Relay Team.

ln 1978, David graduated with a Degree in Business and was awarded the "Most Dedicated Track Athlete." Following his collegiate career, David competed and qualified for the United States Olympic Trials.

As a way of giving back for the excellent coaching and guidance he received while at Coatesville High School, David returned to CASH in 1995 to help coach the distance runners and continued to do so for more than 14 years. During his tenure the cross-country team won numerous state medals, two PA State Team Titles (2000 and 2006) and the Footlocker National Title (2006).

David was inducted into the Coatesville Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. He continues to live in the Coatesville area with his wife, Audrey.



Kristin Luckenbill - Soccer

Kristin is nominated for her outstanding career as a soccer player and is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in US soccer history. During her senior year at Connestoga High School she was named All-Conference, All-County, All-Region, All-State, Regional All-American, and High School All-American. In addition, she was named Pennsylvania High School Player of the Year.

At Dartmouth, Kristin was a three-time NCAA All-American, four-time 1st Team Ivy League, Ivy League Rookie of the Year, and Ivy League Player of the Year. She was nominated for an ESPY Award in 2003 for “Best Female Soccer Player”.

After her college career, Kristin was drafted by the Carolina Courage in the WUSA. She was the starting goalkeeper for most of her tenure, winning the Founders Cup Championship in 2002, WUSA Goalkeeper of the Year, and First Team All-league honors.

Kristin was a member of the 2004 United States National Team that won an Olympic Gold Medal at the Athens Olympic Games. She finished her ten year professional career in the WPS playing for the Boston Breakers and Sky-Blue FC.

After her retirement from soccer, Kristin earned a Masters degree in business from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. In her professional career, she is helping to improve sports & fitness in the United States through “Academy One Goalkeeping.”



Matt Schaub - Football

Matt Schaub demonstrated outstanding athletic talent in high school, college and during his 17-year tenure in the NFL while playing for the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens.

At West Chester East High School, he was twice recognized as the All Ches-Mont QB, Maxwell Club Award recipient, and All Ches-Mont League in football, basketball and baseball. During his University of Virginia career, he was ACC 1st Team in football while also establishing 22 school records. Over the course of his NFL career, he was a two-time Pro Bowl Selection as a Houston Texan (2009 & 2012) and Pro Bowl MVP (2009)..

As an elite athlete Matt, and his wife Laurie, gave his time and talents to an extensive list of foundations, programs, and events with Laurie serving on the Make-A-Wish Foundation board for 8 years. The causes he supported were often focused on medically challenged kids with cancer, autism and overall health deficiencies. He also supported specific diagnosis including prostate cancer. He made an impact on several community health issues including the role of Dads in their children's lives and other community concerns.

He currently resides in Atlanta, GA with Laurie and their 5 children, Madison, Makayla, Mackenzi, Matthew, and Macie.



Maureen “Bean” Scott (Dupcak) - Lacrosse

Maureen “Bean” Scott (Dupcak) is nominated for her many athletic achievements, especially in women’s lacrosse. She was a three-sport athlete at West Chester East High School in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse leading her teams to State Championship games. Bean was a member of the 1990 PIAA State Championship lacrosse team, was a Lacrosse High School All-American, the Most Outstanding Female Athlete at East in 1990 and named to the 1990 Chester County All-Century Lacrosse Team.

At the University of Maryland she was a starter and letter winner for four years in field hockey and lacrosse. Bean played in 6 NCAA Final Four Championships, won an NCAA Championship in both field hockey (1993) and lacrosse (1994), was an All-American in field hockey (1993) and lacrosse (1994), was inducted into the University of Maryland Hall of Fame in 2014, and is a member of the 50th Anniversary All-Atlantic Coast Conference team in lacrosse.

Post-college, Bean continued her lacrosse career playing for the US National Lacrosse team (1995 – 2001) winning Gold at the World Cup in 1997. While still competing at the international level, she became head lacrosse coach at American University and was named Colonial Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1999 and Patriot League Coach of the Year in 2003.

In 2008 she was inducted into the Potomac Chapter Lacrosse Hall of Fame for playing and coaching. She is also an outstanding lacrosse official having officiated the Maryland State High School Championship 5 times.



Sandy Thielz - Gymnastics

Sandy Thielz defined excellence as a coach, faculty member, and international level judge. She was an outstanding gymnast at Southern Connecticut State College where she was a member of the US Training Squad for both the 1967 Pan Am Games and the 1968 Olympics. She spent 32 years as a faculty member and 22 years as a coach at West Chester University. During her tenure she developed one of the premier women’s gymnastics programs in the country. Her teams went to five Division II National Championships, won the 1983 NCAA Regional Championship, and placed third in the 1980 AIAW Nationals (pre-curser to NCAA’s). She mentored 8 All-Americans and was Regional Coach of the Year in 1980 and 1983.

When not coaching, Sandy was a national and international judge. For almost 30 years she traveled the country and the world judging gymnastics in international exhibitions, the Pan Am Games, the Commonwealth Games, and the World University Games. In 1996, she was a line judge at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Sandy judged USGF Junior and Senior Nationals, as well as DGWS Collegiate Nationals. She also served on committees ranging from the AIAW National Gymnastics Committee (1979-82) to the NCAA National Gymnastics Committee (1987-1993, 99-2003).

Sandy has promoted the sport through numerous clinics and exhibitions to elementary, middle, and high schools where she spoke and guided athletes, coaches, and judges. She also coached and consulted local clubs, and spoke at numerous camps, clinics, conventions, symposiums. Sandy was a member of the USA National Coaching Staff (1993 and 1994) and coached many elite regional athletes.
