Track & Field • West Chester

Kelvin Butcher is being honored for his outstanding accomplishments in Track and Field. He was named to the Daily Local News All-Area Team two years in a row and was West Chester East's leading scorer leading them to their best finish ever in the Ches-Mont League. Kelvin was named to the Coaches All-Star team in 1978 and 1979.

Kelvin won the Pennsylvania State Long Jump Championship, with a leap of 22' 6 3/4." He also anchored WC East's 4 x 100 Relay team to a first-place finish at the Penn Relays and second place finishes in both the District and State Championships.

Kelvin was an outstanding three-sport athlete, also excelling in basketball and football. ln basketball he was Team Captain leading the team in scoring for three consecutive years. ln 1978, he was named MVP of the Bishop Shanahan Holiday Tournament, and he continued his basketball career at West Chester University.

ln football, he was an outstanding wide receiver, receiving All Ches-Mont League honors in both his junior and senior years. Kelvin was also named to the All-Area team both years.
