Michele is nominated for her outstanding contribution to women’s athletics as a player, coach, and administrator.
She is a graduate of Unionville HS where she played lacrosse and co-captained the cheerleading squad. She matriculated at West Chester University where she was an outstanding defender. The 1979 WCU Lacrosse team won both the College Conference and the Collegiate National Championship (now the NCAA). For outstanding play and sportsmanship, she received the coveted Beth Allen Award.
From 1981-1986, Michele was a member of USA National & International Lacrosse teams, which won the World Cup in 1982.
While at Penncrest High School Michele has coached Field Hockey, Basketball and Lacrosse, taught physical education for 32 years, and became the first female AD of the Central League.
Michele was a co-founder of a summer lacrosse league which grew to four sites and over 20 teams in Chester and Delaware Counties. She served 18 years as the PIAA D1 Lacrosse rep and organized the first girl’s lacrosse tournament for the Keystone games. As part of the Unionville Recreation Association, Michele coordinated a lacrosse program for elementary & middle school girls.
In addition to serving on the USWLA Executive Board representing schoolgirls, Michele was on the U-19 World Cup Championship Committee. As a representative of USA lacrosse she has traveled across the United States and as far as Japan and the Czech Republic to teach the fundamentals of the game.
Michele was inducted into the US Lacrosse/Eastern PA Hall of Fame, the USA Lacrosse National Hall of Fame, and the Delaware County Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame.
