Robert “Bob” Dorsey was an outstanding dual-sport athlete at West Chester Henderson High School in basketball and track & field.

He captained the 1969 Ches-Mont championship basketball team and was named to the league’s first-team, as well as receiving All-State honorable mention.

Dorsey ran on three Ches-Mont and Penn Relay 4X400 meter championship relay teams. He held the Ches-Mont 180 yard low hurdles record and won the Ches-Mont 100 meter dash as a senior.

Henderson’s Male Athlete of the Year was also the 1969 Butch McDevitt Award recipient as the outstanding Chester County Male Athlete.

Dorsey enrolled at Cheyney University and was a key member of the 1970-71 and 1971-72 PSAC Champion basketball teams. In 1973 he captained Cheyney’s NCAA Regional tournament championship team, and was named first-team All-PSAC, and Cheyney’s most valuable player.

He was inducted into the Cheyney Sports Hall of Fame (1983). An assistant basketball coach at both his alma maters, he served under Cheyney’s legendary coach, John Cheyney, and spent 16 years assisting Henderson’s boy’s basketball team.

Bobby and his wife Pearl reside in Downingtown.
