Walter Beaver, of Berwyn PA, (1897-1957) was one of the greatest trapshooters in state history, was elected to the Pennsylvania Trap-shooting Hall of Fame in 1988 and elected into the ATA Hall of Fame in 1974.

The winner of the Grand American Handicap in 1933, he won the Clay Target Championship in 1934 and again in 1946, led state shooters in singles averages a record 11 times, leading the entire ATA twice. He led the state in singles, handicap and doubles averages in 1934 and 1935 and won 3 State Singles Championships, 2 Handicap titles, 3 Doubles titles and 7 HAA awards.

Beaver was a very careful competitor, being slow and methodical in movements. He was picked for All-American first-string honors seven times (in the years when only six or seven were chosen), and he was on the second team twice, in 1942 and 1946.
