Ramzee Stanton is nominated for his outstanding career as a basketball player at Coatesville High School, West Chester University, and in the professional ranks while playing in Argentina for both Ben Hur and Regatas. When Stanton moved to Coatesville at the beginning of his junior year he was relegated to the JV basketball team. By his senior year he was a starting forward and played on the 1997-1998 Ches-Mont League championship team. The 6’ 5” Stanton joined the West Chester University basketball team for the 1999-2000 season and became a starter. He was named to the first team PSAC East as a freshman, and repeated as first-team PSAC East for each season during his four year Golden Rams career. In his senior year, 2002-2003, he was named to the NCAA Division II First Team All-American squad, and was chosen for the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II East All-District First Team. During his four years at WCU he played on two PSAC East Championship teams (2000 and 2002), helping his teams compile an 83-32 record. Known as a rebounding machine, he is in WCU’s record books as 2nd all-time in rebounds (1,142), 4th best average at 17.6 points per game, 2nd most field goals (756), and 2nd in free throw conversions/attempts at 444 of 646. After he graduated from WCU he damaged the ligaments in his right knee while playing in a summer league. Following thirteen months of rehabilitation he signed with Ben Hur (Rafaela, Argentina) and helped them win the LIGA A Championship in the premier Argentinean league in his first year of play. During his ten year Argentina professional career he helped Ben Hur, and later Regatas win a total of six league championships. He was recognized for his outstanding play in 2005 and 2006 by being named the league’s best small forward as a member of the Ideal Team. In 2010 and 2011 he was chosen an Argentinean All-Star. He retired in 2014. A 2013 Inductee into the West Chester University Basketball Hall of Fame, Stanton currently lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
