Jonathan Sheppard is a Hall of Fame trainer in American Thoroughbred horse racing. He is the all-time leading steeplechase trainer in America, with over 1,000 wins and over $20,000,000 in earnings. He has won the yearly earnings title twenty-four times. Mr. Sheppard also has over 3,000 wins as a flat trainer, and he is one of only two men in American thoroughbred racing to win an Eclipse Award (American Thoroughbred racing’s highest honor) with both a flat and a steeplechase horse. Horses he has trained have won 12 Eclipse Awards, thoroughbred horse racing’s annual championship. Mr. Sheppard trained the winner of four Breeders’ Cup Grand National Steeplechase events and holds the record for most wins in the Colonial Cup Steeplechase with eleven.
