Kathleen Krannebitter
Field Hockey/Lacrosse • West Chester

Kathleen Krannebitter won a National Championship in both field hockey and lacrosse at West Chester University as a college athlete. Since then, she has had an amazing career as a college coach over the past 32 years at the Division I, II, and III levels in both field hockey and lacrosse. As a Division I field hockey coach at West Chester University, Krannebitter has been honored as a “Coach of the Year” four times from three different coaching organizations and won 226 field hockey games. She was also named “Coach of the Year” as lacrosse coach four times by two organizations. During her coaching tenure, Kathy’s teams won 2 Atlantic 10 Championships (WCU field hockey), 8 Straight PSAC championships (WCU lacrosse), 2 ACC Championships (North Carolina field hockey), and a Gold Medal (USA field hockey). Her many honors and achievements include as a National player: member and starter for the 1978 National Championship West Chester University Field Hockey Team; Member of the 1979 USWILCA National Championship Lacrosse Team; and Member of the 1983 Women’s Lacrosse team at WCU that finished 7th in the country. As a Coach, Krannebitter was a: two time PSAC Coach of the Year – Lacrosse in 1994 and 1997; two time IWLCA Coach of the Year – Lacrosse in1987 and 1992; two time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year – Field Hockey in 1997 and 2001; NHFCA Division I Mideast Regional Coach of the Year – Field Hockey in 2007; PAIAW Coach of the Year in Field Hockey in 1987; and coached a team to the Gold Medal in the 1984 US Olympic Festival, St. Louis, MO. Kathy was inducted into the Kenwood Senior High School Hall of Fame in 1992. She was awarded the distinguished Anne Deming Award for Advancing the Quality of Life for Women at West Chester University in 1997 and was also awarded the Addy Kelly Award at West Chester University in 2009. Kathy is currently an Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Division II Swarthmore College.
