Nicholson was a coach on the floor for legendary mentor Bob Schnure's iconic
teams in the early 1990s that won back-to-back state titles at Downingtown High
School. She went on to further success at Penn State and played in the WNBA's
inaugural season. No Chester County high school hoopster, male or female, has
scored more than Nicholson's 2,709 career points - not even NBA superstar Rip
Hamilton. A four year starter for Schnure from 1989-92, Nicholson was the point
guard for three District 1 champions. As a sophomore, the Whippets were one win
away from a berth in the state title game. They won it all in 1991 and '92, going
62-3, and by her senior year the 5'2" Nicholson was named an All-American. At
Penn State, Nicholson led the Lady Lions to two Big 10 crowns, was a third team
All-American and amassed 826 career assists. She has been Schnure's assistant
since 2003.
