"Zimmy" was the gym teacher at Henderson High School when Mr. Henderson
was principal through the 1950s. He coached football, track and field and cross
country at the high school, then known as West Chester High School. He was
legendary as a gym teacher and coached previous CCSHOF inductees, including,
Al Bruno, Nick Bruno, Dick Yoder and John Matlack. East High School Football
Stadium is named in his honor. The West Chester chapter of American Legion
sent Zimmy one of their highest honors, a resolution publicly acknowledging his
1931 undefeated football team. This honor kicked off many more congratulatory
honors he received over the course of his 30+ years as a coach. Long after his
passing, his name and reputation remained in the junior and senior high school
halls.
