West Chester University's men's soccer squad captured the NCAA championship in the fall season
of 1961 by shutting out two-time defending national champ St. Louis University on its home field.
The Golden Rams recorded six shutouts in all during the championship campaign while only
allowing one opponent to score more than once in a game.
West Chester took down national powers the likes of Penn State, Duke, North Carolina, Army,
Pittsburgh, Maryland and St. Louis en route to the school's first NCAA title.
