Ross Kershey began his coaching career at Coatesville High School in 1956. Kershey
was the head basketball coach of the Red Raiders for 28 years and the head
track coach for 14 years. Kershey's basketball teams compiled a record of 462-
129 (.782) for his career. He won 12 Ches-Mont League championships and one
District 1 title. In his 14-year career as Coatesville's track coach he finished with
a final record of 103 wins and just a single loss in dual meets. Kershey's teams
won 13 Ches-Mont League championships, 14 league relay crowns, 2 district titles,
and a state championship. Kershey was inducted into the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Hall of Fame, and the basketball facility at Coatesville is now named the
Ross Kershey Gymnasium.
