In 1987 Muffet McGraw became the head women's basketball coach at the
University of Notre Dame. She led the Fighting Irish to a national championship
in 2001. She attended St. Agnes elementary school and graduated from Bishop
Shanahan High School in 1973. She graduated from Saint Joseph's University
in 1977. McGraw then became head coach at Philadelphia's Archbishop Carroll
High School, where she compiled a sparkling 50-3 record in two seasons. She
was inducted into the Saint Joseph's Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Philadelphia's
Big Five Women's Hall of Fame in 1989 and the SJU Athletics Hall of
Fame in 2002. She was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
