Please join the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame to honor Natalie Neumann (Westtown School) and Brendan Burns (Conestoga High School) as recipients of the 2019 Richard B. Yoder High School Scholar-Athlete Award. Named in memory of CCSHOF charter member and inductee Richard B. Yoder, the Yoder Award recognizes a male and female graduating high-school student who is an accomplished athlete, scholar and leader, qualities that defined Dick Yoder’s life.e.

Vonnie Gros' illustrious field hockey career spans her years as a college All-American to coaching the USA Olympic Field Hockey team. Gros was an All-American field hockey and lacrosse player at Ursinus College, and following graduation spent thirteen years as a United States National Field Hockey Team member. She coached West Chester University’s field hockey teams (1964-1976) to a 100-7-16 record, including two National titles (1975 & 1976), and was named national Coach of the Year (1976). During the 1972-1976 WCU seasons her teams only lost one game! In 2008 WCU named the field hockey and women’s lacrosse complex the Vonnie Gros Field. She coached the 1984 United States Olympic Field Hockey team to the bronze medal becoming the first and only US field hockey squad to medal at the Olympics. She is a member of several halls of fame including the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame, West Chester University, Ursinus College, Philadelphia, Chester County, and Montgomery County. We are honored to have Vonnie Gros as our guest speaker.

The event is limited to 120 guests who will enjoy an opportunity to meet Vonnie Gros and the award winners, support the Yoder Award, and enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and beverages. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Richard B. Yoder Scholar-Athlete Award and are tax deductible.
