The Chester County Sports Hall of Fame will honor the 1970 Avon Grove High School Boys Basketball State Champion Team with special recognition at the November 14th banquet. The Avon Grove team was the first high school team to win a state title in Chester County beating the team of Tom McMillan (6'11'') Mansfield High who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated as the best high school basketball player in the country in the semi finals. They defeated Mohawk High School for the championship in March of 1970. The Avon Grove team was coached by William Miller.
