Greg Greenday
Sports Writer • West Chester

When Greg became the Sports Editor of the Daily Local News in 2007, he was surprised to discover that there was nothing in place to honor the great athletes from Chester County. So Greenday teamed up with Jerry Schneider and Charlie DiMarco and turned the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame into a reality, working tirelessly to get the endeavor off the ground in the span of about 18 months. Greenday passed away suddenly in the spring of 2010 at the age of 61, and now he is enshrined into the organization he had such an integral part in starting. A native of Chester, Greenday was on the staff at the Delaware County Daily Times for 23 years, and the biggest chunk came with the sports department. During his relatively short stint at the Daily Local News, Greenday also threw his energy and influence into building and strengthening the Valor Bowl, Chester County's annual charity high school all-star football game that is closely tied to Special Olympics.
