Bratcher was a stellar athlete at West Chester High School in the late 1950s playing football, basketball and baseball. Bratcher was All Ches-Mont in football in his junior and senior years. His basketball team at West Chester won the 1957 Ches-Mont League Championship. George was named 1st Team All Ches-Mont in basketball in both the 1956-57 and 1957-58 seasons. As a result of his outstanding basketball and football accomplishments at Delaware State College, he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Bratcher played professionally for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League as an offensive lineman. George enjoyed working with the youth in the community, he was a longtime coach for the Little All-American Football League in West Chester. George died in 2010.
